A POPULAR teddy bear took to the streets with fellow fundraisers to raise awareness of his upcoming charity adventure.
Byker Bear will accompany Willington bikers Trevor Atkinson, Tony Hurworth and Steve Armstrong on an epic motorcycle ride across Europe to raise funds for the Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Trust in Crook.
Yesterday, the charity held a special launch event in the town’s Market Place to spread the word about the Quest for Cancer, which will see the bikers travel through 30 countries in 13 days this June. In each destination, they will take a photograph of Byker Bear and share ii on social media.Cancer survivor and charity founder Patricia Greensmith said: “We’ve had such a great response so far. People are really excited about Byker Bear and the motorbike ride. We would like to write story books starring Byker Bear and there has been a lot of interest in that too.”
The bikers would welcome donations of tyres and other supplies for the trip, and anyone who can help is asked to contact Mrs Greensmith on 07425-139223.
Quest for Cancer sponsor forms are available at the Chyrelle Addams Cancer Support Centre in Royal Corner, Crook, as well as at the The Burn pub in Willington and The Crown in Crook. Donations can also be made online at chyrelleaddams.co.uk
